Blush & Black

Top: Topshop // Jeans: Abercrombie // Boots: Steve Madden // Sunnies: Quay Australia  // Choker: Nordstrom
For a day out and about grabbing lunch with a friend, jeans and a tee is my go-to. The distressed t-shirts from topshop are my favorite comfy shirts of the moment. They come in a few different colors and are perfect to wear with mid or high waisted jeans like these. Wearing black bottoms like these distressed jeans, with black boots has been one of my favorite looks lately because it creates one fluid line and gives your legs that extra long appearance! I added a black velvet choker to kick up the look a bit and I was ready to go.

Tips and Tricks for Natural Everyday Makeup

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

Today I wanted to share my everyday makeup look with you guys. This look plays up any eye color or shape and brings out all your best features while still looking natural and effortless. All products I used are mentioned below, but before I get to that, I want to share a few tips and tricks I use to create this natural and effortless makeup look.

Tips for Creating a Natural Makeup Look

  1. Of course, the most important thing to creating the perfect makeup look is a healthy, flawless base. You can find my 3 steps for a healthy, glowing makeup routine here.
  2. Now the real key to this look is the use of soft browns rather than harsh blacks. I've used a light brown shadow and just barely dusted it on my crease. Picking an eye shadow one shade darker than your own skin tone and lightly sweeping it across your crease gives just a hint of depth and brings out your eyes. I use this same shadow to gently line my lower lash line.
  3. For the eye liner, I chose a dark brown powder with a moistened liner brush to create a natural looking winged liner. Using brown eye liner (especially a powder) rather than black creates a more natural look while still making your eyes pop.
  4. For the lip, I like using a matte lip liner to fill in my lips. My go-to is MAC's stripdown which is the perfect warm nude.
  5. Lastly, and my favorite part, is playing up the lashes. There are many false lashes that create a very natural look but I personally like to stick to my favorite mascara (Loreal Telescopic) for everyday makeup.

Eye shadow in crease and lower lash line: Urban Decay Naked from the Naked Palette
Inner Corner and Brow Bone Highlight: MAC Mineralize skin finish in Soft & Gentle
Liner: Makeup Forever Eyeshadow in "Espresso" applied with dampened angled liner brush

Liner used to fill in lips: MAC in Stripdown

Life Through Rose Tinted Glasses

Left Photo: Quay 'Jetlag' // Right Photo: Quay 'Cherry Bomb'
I've been a long time lover of blush tinted sunglasses and I've owned pairs from different brands and from all different price ranges. Many brands sell maybe one or two styles that feature a rose-tinted lens but my favorite brand, Quay Australia has the largest variety of blush lens sunnies I've ever seen.

Quay is known for their oversized sunglasses and for collaborating with up and coming bloggers, style icons and makeup gurus. They release new styles of sunglasses all the time so there's always a new pair that I have my eye on! My favorites from Quay are the Cherry Bomb style, which has both blush lenses and a blush frame, and the Jetlag style from a collaboration with makeup guru Chrisspy. My favorite thing about these sunglasses is the price, they are all priced at $60 or under! I've linked my two favorite styles below along with some of Quay's other rosy-hued sunnies for any of you who are looking for the perfect blush shades.

Cozy in Cream

La Jolla, CA

One of my favorite things to do a chilly day is grab a cup of coffee and walk along the coast. My favorite spot to enjoy the ocean view is La Jolla Cove where you can venture into the the Cave shop that goes down to the La Jolla Cave or have a picnic on the grass and watch the seals. Days like these call for cozy sweaters that will keep cold and wind out. I've been loving anything with a mock neck recently and fell in love with this mock neck Madewell sweater! It's more of a sweatshirt material which keeps you warm and is a gorgeous shade of cream.
Sweater: Madewell // Jeans: Abercrombie
I'm not usually one to buy clothes with something written across the front, but I made an exception for this one! When I was younger my family would go to a cabin or lodge in Lake Arrowhead, CA for Thanksgiving and bring our cousins along with us too. Some of my best memories growing up are from those trips to Lake Arrowhead sitting by the fire, eating yummy apple pie and building snowmen outside. So when I saw this sweater that read Arrowhead Lodge across the front I just had to get it! If you're looking for a cozy mock neck sweater, this Madewell one is super comfy and will keep you warm, not to mention its currently half off! You can get it here.

Grey on Grey

Dress: Abercrombie // Leggings: Lululemon // Cardigan: Gap (similar) // Boots: Steve Madden
Grey is my go-to color for any occasion, season or mood. Half of my closet is probably filled with varying shades of grey dresses, tops, sweaters and bags. I've been especially loving monochromatic outfits lately in beige, blush, creams and of course greys and with all the grey I have in my closet what better way to make use of it than to create a monochrome outfit! For a Saturday night of grabbing some dinner and catching a movie, I paired a comfy striped t-shirt dress with a cozy grey cardigan and black suede boots.

It's been pretty chilly out so this comfy sweater, warm leggings and suede boots keep me warm all night. If you're looking for a comfortable pair of leggings that will really keep you warm, I highly recommend the Lululemon wunder under leggings in the high-rise cut. These are the only pair of leggings I wear and I honestly haven't found a pair that even come close to comparing. The material is great for working out but also for keeping out the cold on a blustering day. I personally go for the high rise cut because they have no seam at the top of the waistband and therefore don't cut in when you sit down or lean over. Plus these leggings can really be paired with almost anything! Hope you guys are having a wonderful weekend
P.S. The dress, cardigan and boots are all on major sale right now and are linked above!

A Day of Pampering

Thursday, January 12, 2017

Bath Bomb: Lush (similar) // Face Mask Set: Peter Thomas Roth // Luxury Bar Soap: Anthropologie

It's been cold and rainy here for the last week which means staying inside and keeping warm are priority. One thing I love doing on chilly days like this is an at home spa day. This is so much fun to do with friends but is equally relaxing to do by yourself. To me, a day of pampering has to include a few things: a relaxing bath, a face treatment and calming aromatherapy.

My favorite thing to add to my relaxing bath is a bath bomb! Lush is famous for their fun and wonderfully fragrant bath bombs. They sell a variety in every scent and color. I got the Pud bath bomb for the holiday season. It's not currently being sold but my other favorite, the Rose Bombshell, can be bought here.

As for a facial treatment, I like to use face masks. Since some areas of my skin need one mask and other areas need a different one, I mix and match masks to cater to my skin. I've been loving the Peter Thomas Roth Irish Moore Mud mask to detoxify my skin and the Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Mask to revitalize the skin around my eyes. You can get the sample set of Peter Thomas Roth masks here.

Of course I can't forget how import aromatherapy is to a relaxing day of pampering. I use aromatherapy daily to help calm my nerves or to get me feeling ready to start my day. For an at home spa day, I love lighting a few candles but I also like to incorporate aromatherapy by using a body soap that leaves my skin smelling wonderful. The Mistral Lychee Rose Soap is made with shea butter and fragranced with lychee blooms and a touch of vanilla. It makes my skin feel soft and moisturized and has the most lovely scent.

I hope these tips help you to enjoy a day of pampering yourself and truly unwinding.

Beach Day in my Bellamis

Monday, January 9, 2017

La Jolla, CA

I've mentioned before that I wear clip-in hair extensions on a daily basis and my that my all time favorite brand is Bellami. I wanted to share a bit more about Bellami hair extensions for any of you looking to get some for every day wear like me or even just for special occasions.
I recently received a new pair of Bellami clip-ins and this time I went with a little bit longer length. Here I'm wearing the Bambina 20" clip-ins in the shade Mochachino. I can't tell you how many compliments I get on my hair and most of all how great my hair looks from the start of the day to the end of the night with these extensions. I wanted to share this with you all so that you can have the best extensions and not have to spend years trying to find the right kind like I did.
The hair extensions I'm wearing can be found here
Bellami has the largest variety of shades, weights and lengths of extensions out of any brand I've seen. They are also the thickest from top to bottom and the longest lasting extensions I've come across. My hair is fairly fine so the Piccolina or Bambina sets, which are the two lightest in weight, work great for me. If you're hair is fine like mine, super thick or anywhere in between, there's a set that will work for you.

Note: Bellami does giveaways weekly on their instagram and snapchat. Be sure to follow them and you could win your own set of Bellamis!

A Magical Day at Harry Potter World

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Hollywood CA

I recently had the opportunity to emerge myself in a whole world dedicated to one of my favorite things, Harry Potter. The Harry Potter books and movies were such a huge part of my childhood and young adult life. Anytime I feel like I need some cheering up, I watch one of the movies for the hundredth time, and without a doubt it brings me an immeasurable sense of joy. I probably know every line to every movie and the entire back history on any family mentioned in the books. So I am a big fan to say the least.
I've been wanting to go to Harry Potter World ever since the first one opened in Orlando. I was even more excited when the Hollywood location, just two hours away from me, opened next. Now that I've had the chance to finally go and immerse myself in all of the magic, I'll definitely be coming back more often.
The main part of Harry Potter World at Universal Studios Hollywood is Hogsmeade, which is replicated to-the-t. It couldn't look more like how we've read about and seen it in the movies. You could spend days observing all of the minute details that are put into every store front.
Towering over Hogsmead is the Hogwarts castle. If you're going to visit Harry Potter World I recommend staying until it gets dark when the windows of the castle light up. And of course you have to eat at The Three Broomsticks or grab a butterbeer at the Hog's Head! I tried the ice blended and the hot butter beer and I have to say the hot is my favorite, especially on a chilly winter day
The park has the most famous stores mentioned in the books like Olivander's, where your wand chooses you and you can actually perform spells at certain spots in the park! There's also the Owlery and Honey Duke's where you can get any and all sweets imaginable including chocolate frogs.
Sweater: Target (similar) // Leggings: Lululemon // Booties: Ugg // Sunnies: Quay
There are two rides at the Wizarding World in Hollywood, Flight of the Hippogriff and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. The latter ride is my favorite, not only because of how fun and exciting it is, but because while you're waiting to get on you pass through the castle, journeying past Dumbledore's office and seeing the moving paintings on the Hogwarts walls. It's the details like these that made me feel like I was really in the Wizarding World. I'll be going back soon and I'll be sure to post even more from my next trip there!
