New Year's Neutrals

Saturday, December 31, 2016

I want to share one of my favorite outfit combos with you guys, a cozy sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers.  I know this outfit combo doesn't seem like anything special but I think there is something vital in finding a pair of jeans, sweatshirt and sneakers that not only feel comfortable and cute but that you feel truly confident in. Over the years I've discovered just how important the fit of clothing is. Once I discovered what fit or cut works for me, I felt so much more confident in everything I wore. When wearing jeans, I personally gravitate towards straight cut, high waisted jeans and pair a top that is a bit shorter and somewhat loose.
I buy all my jeans from Abercrombie and I've turned friends and family onto their awesome jeans too! They have so many different cuts, shades and styles, you're sure to find a pair that is great for you (and not too pricey either). I also want to share this cozy and comfy pullover sweater from Anthropologie. It is two toned grey and cream so it can be paired with beiges and warm tones or with greys and cool tones. And of course no comfy outfit is complete without cute sneakers, I love pairing my white adidas with almost any casual outfit.
Sweater: Anthropologie // Jeans: Abercrombie // Sneakers: Adidas
With the new year upon us, I want to share one of my goals with you guys, which is to be more confident in myself. Whether it be finding an outfit that makes me feel good about myself or having courage to stand up for what I believe in, my goal is to have more confidence in myself in all aspects of my life. I hope this year brings you happiness, laughter and joy. What are some of your New Year's goals?

Blush on Blush

La Jolla, CA

Blush is my current obsession. I love anything and everything blush, most of all I love pairing blush with blush to achieve that monochromatic look. I'm sharing a few of my blush staples with you guys today for all of you who are loving blush as much as I am.
T-shirt: Topshop // Hoodie: Topshop // Jeans: Abercrombie // Booties: Ugg // Sunnies: Quay
Here I'm wearing my favorite comfy blush tee from Topshop. It's a very faint blush color so it really pairs well with deeper blush tones without ever clashing. I'm also wearing a blush hoodie from Topshop that is by far the comfiest hoodie around. And of course I can't forget my signature blush sunnies. I've had a few pairs of blush sunglasses but my favorites have to be the Quay Australia cherry bombs. Quay makes so many cute blush lens sunnies, I seriously have to restrain myself from buying them all. Lastly, I want to share with you the cutest booties from Ugg that are super comfy and go well with any blush pieces I pair them with. If you're looking for a well made pair that will last you, I recommend these! Hope you guys are enjoying the Holiday season and spending time with loved ones.

Comfy and Cozy for the Holidays

Saturday, December 24, 2016

Before I sign off for the weekend I wanted to wish you all Happy Holidays and give you a peak inside what my Christmas morning looks like. Before the craziness of the day begins, my family always spends the morning in our pjs, exchanging gifts, drinking hot cocoa and most likely watching the Santa Clause for the hundredth time! If you're looking for the coziest pjs or a perfect last minute gift, I recommend the flannel pjs from Victoria's Secret. I'm wearing a pair I got a couple of years ago for Christmas and I love them!
Wrapping paper: Target // Stamp to make gift tags: Papersource (similar)
I'm all about making the packaging of the gift just as wonderful as the gift itself. However, if you have a lot of gifts to wrap it can be expensive to wrap each gift with nice wrapping paper and tags, so when I came across this striped gold glittery wrapping paper from target I was thrilled (and its only $5 a roll)! I decided to make the tags myself this year using a stamp and card stock. It's such a simple project yet adds so much to the presentation. I hope you all have the happiest of Holidays!

I can't believe Christmas is less than a week away! I've been decorating, buying presents and making fun Christmas crafts and I want to share a few of my favorite ideas with you all before Christmas arrives. One of my favorite projects is this little mason jar snow globe that I like to call Christmas in a jar. My favorite thing about these adorable little snow globes are the twinkly lights (which you probably know I'm obsessed with and use for literally everything). When I look into this snow globe, with the snowy tree and twinkly lights, I feel like I'm peering into a magical little world. I've put together a little DIY guide for you guys so you too can have a little bit of Christmas magic in your homes.

DIY Mason Jar Snow Globes

You will need:

  • Mason jar
  • fake snow
  • plastic tree
  • twinkly lights

Directions:

  1. Fill the bottom of the mason jar with the fake snow
  2. Place the plastic tree in the center
  3. Scrunch the twinkly lights in the jar, making sure they fill the whole space, with the battery pack staying outside the jar on the back side
  4. Be sure not to seal the lid too tight so that the wire stays in tact

Growing up, my family would always empty our stockings first to find sweet treats and candies galore. It was almost as exciting as opening some of our biggest gifts under the tree! Our stockings were always filled with mostly candies and no "real gifts." However, the last couple of years I decided to surprise my family by putting a few "real gifts" in their stockings. Its so magical to see the surprise on their faces when they are expecting just a candy bar and pull out the perfume or wallet they were hoping for. Today I wanted to share some of favorite stocking stuffers for her.

Three Favorite Stocking Stuffers for Her

  1.  I love including a little gift that is luxurious and thought out, like the Cleopatra Tocca hand soap. I love gifting something like this that smells amazing, looks beautiful in the bathroom and makes you feel like you're at a spa every time you wash your hands.
  2. I also love throwing a little something in there that I love and think they would love too, like the Outremer Vanille perfume. This perfume is the best smelling vanilla perfume I've ever smelled! My favorite thing about gifting this is that because it's just pure vanilla perfume, it can be paired with other scents to create your own unique signature scent.
  3. Lastly I like to gift something personal to the recipient like a makeup product that I know they want or something they already use and need a refill of. Liquid Matte Lipsticks are on a lot of people's wish lists this year so I thought I would share my all time favorite one. This Bare Minerals GenNude Matte Liquid Lipstick is my favorite matte liquid lipstick of all time because it has a matte finish but doesn't actually dry to a chalky consistency, drying out your lips like many others I've tried. This is the shade icon, which is the perfect mauve shade and goes well on so many skin tones! They have a large variety of gorgeous shades and would make a perfect gift for anyone looking for a great liquid matte lipstick.

Dreaming of a White Christmas

Thursday, December 15, 2016

Trimming the tree is one of my favorite things in the world. I just love getting in the Christmas spirit, drinking hot cocoa and listening to Christmas music while decorating the tree. My family always get a real Christmas tree and it wouldn't be the same if we didn't. However, I've always wanted a snowy looking Christmas tree! Since I live in San Diego, I've never been able to experience a white Christmas so when I discovered that I could get my real tree flocked I couldn't pass it up! I've never had a flocked Christmas tree flocked before but I've completely fallen in love with it and will surely be getting my real tree flocked every year from now on! There's just something so magical about a snowy tree.
I decorated the tree this year with all gold and white ornaments to match the white Christmas theme. I went with a snowy faux fur tree skirt and placed some snow filled lanterns around the tree. And I couldn't forget my favorite little gold reindeer to guard the tree! I also took out my favorite snowy log candles to add to the snowy theme. I hope my White Christmas decor gives you all some ideas for your own Christmas decorations and tree trimming!

Gingerbread House Kit can be found here
I've always loved the tradition of building gingerbread houses, but I've never really had a chance to partake in it. So this year I decided to start the tradition with friends and family! It's such a fun way to get in the holiday spirit and even more fun to see how everyone decorates their gingerbread house! If you're looking for a fun holiday activity, what better than building an adorable little gingerbread house that also doubles as Christmas decor.

To make this gingerbread house I picked up a Wilton Kit from Michael's. There are a variation of kits to chose from but I decided to stick with the classic kit. It comes with all the cookie pieces, icing, fondant, a variation of candy and the cardboard piece to build the house on. I used other candies and sprinkles that I had on hand and decided to create a pink, Scandinavian inspired gingerbread house! I hope you find inspiration to build your own gingerbread houses and start a fun Christmas tradition.

Dress: H&M (this color is currently not on the website but is available in most stores) // Leggings: Lululemon // Cardigan: Gap (similar) // Boots: Steve Madden
I'm all about being comfy and cozy this time of year and when I find a piece that is both comfortable and looks gorgeous on, I just have to share it with you guys! A few posts back (here) I posted a look featuring a comfy emerald dress from H&M. I've had the dress for a year or so and it is seriously the comfiest and most flattering cotton dress. H&M sells the dress in their basics section and just recently released it in more shades, like this gorgeous plum! The best part is that it is super affordable and something they have in stock year round. It can easily be dressed up for a holiday party or dressed down for a casual day out and about. For a day out getting lunch in Little Italy, I paired the dress with a cozy cardigan, boots and of course a latte!

My tips for a Glowing, Flawless Makeup Routine

Tuesday, December 6, 2016

glowing flawless makeup routine skin regimen mac cosmetics laura mercier strobe cream mineral powder foundation mineralize skin finish highlighter sugarly healthy radiant mua
No matter the time of year or the makeup trends that come and go, glowing skin is always in style. I've tried for years to achieve luminous, glowing skin, trying every foundation, highlighter, moisturizer and so on to make my skin look the most radiant possible. After much trial and error, I've finally nailed down three key steps to achieving that perfect glow. This routine is truly compatible with any skin type, including even the most sensitive of skin like mine. Since creating this glowy makeup regimen, I have turned family and friends from all ages and skin types onto this routine and it has proved to be fail proof for each and every one of them. I have not come across a routine similar to this anywhere so I felt it even more of a reason to share it with you all!

3 Steps for a Glowing, Flawless Makeup Routine

1. MAC Strobe Cream (Use the original shade): Use MAC strobe cream as a moisturizer after cleansing your face.
I was honestly shocked at how wonderful of a moisturizer the strobe cream is. It has wonderful, natural ingredients such as green tea extract which minimizes pores. It is very moisturizing but at the same time does not cause my already oily skin to look oily at all. It works better under makeup than any other moisturizer I have ever tried and doesn't bother my extremely sensitive skin. This moisturizer has actually helped keep my acne under control.

2. Laura Mercier Mineral Powder Foundation: After applying moisturizer and concealer, buff the mineral foundation onto the face and neck.
I seriously cannot tell you how wonderful this foundation is. It is nothing like other mineral foundations and is by far the best foundation I've ever come by. I've turned so many people onto this foundation and it works so well on all their different skin types. This foundation will leave your skin looking the healthiest and most radiant possible. It keeps oily skin from looking greasy and makes dry skin look luminous.

3. MAC Mineralize Skin Finish (I use the shade Soft & Gentle): After applying foundation, apply skin finish to cheek bones, down the center of the nose, on the brow bone under the eyebrow, on the center edge of the top lip and to the inner corner of the eyes.
This is my favorite highlighter and I love that it comes in a variety of shades to cater to all skin tones. This highlighter can make even the dullest skin glow. It creates the look of naturally dewy, healthy skin. It is definitely the most natural and also long lasting highlighter I've used.

With the weather getting cooler everyday, I find myself wearing boots more and more often. I have a few favorite tall boots and some heeled ankle booties but I've really had my eye out for some mid-high combat boots. I found the cutest, comfiest and most affordable pair the other day while at target! I just had to share this wonderful find with you guys! On top of that, all boots are 30% in stores and online at target right now! Just use the code COLD when checking out online or use the cartwheel app to get the discount in stores. They have a variation of combat and lace up boots that I am absolutely loving! I decided to pair the boots with a cozy dress ensemble for a day out and about in La Jolla. Can't wait to share more looks with these adorable boots!
